> "Probing fluctuations of ultralight dark matter with gravitational wave detectors"
>
> Ultralight dark matter is a compelling dark matter candidate. Recent numerical simulations have shown that it exhibits large-scale order-one density fluctuations due to wave interference. These density fluctuations could be understood as a quasiparticle whose size and mass could be of astronomical values. In this talk, I will discuss how these density fluctuations interact with gravitational wave (GW) detectors and the prospects of current and future GW detectors in probing dark matter density within or near the solar system. I will show that with future GW detectors, we could probe a few hundred times the local dark matter density within the solar system.

Dear everyone,
JC tomorrow by Kevin on The unresolved stochastic background from compact binary mergers detectable by next-generation ground-based gravitational-wave observatories. This will be based on the paper [2310.02517] (arxiv.org)<https://aps.arxiv.org/abs/2310.02517> in the Sancton room tomorrow at 2pm.
Best,
hope to see you there,
Miguel

> ABSTRACT: Gravitational-wave (GW) cosmology has recently been established as a new observationally-driven research field, and is expected to expand rapidly in the future thanks to the increasing number of ever more accurate GW observations. In this talk I will review the current status of GW cosmological results and will survey the expectations for the future. I will first introduce the concept of "standard siren” reviewing its theoretical foundations and phenomenological applications. Standard sirens represent the most common methodology employed to extract cosmological information from GW data, including new tests of LCDM which cannot be performed with standard electromagnetic observations. I will then show how these methods are employed to produce cosmological constraints with current GW data collected by LIGO and Virgo, and how they will usher an era of precise GW cosmology with next generation GW observatories, such as the Einstein Telescope on the Earth and LISA in space.
