Deal all,

Not sure if all of you have received this call for participation, but don't hesitate to apply if you want to present your research also to the sociologists and political scientists of our faculty.

I definitely plan to go. Always enjoyed this day in the past to connect with other researchers in our faculty.

Greetings,

Ike

Dear promoters,

We hope this email finds you well. As we are planning our Faculty Research Day on May 26th, we have sent out a last call to all junior researchers to present their research. This is an opportunity for them to showcase their expertise, network with fellow researchers, and gain recognition for their work.

So far, 20 junior researchers have signed up to present. There is room for up to 35 presentations.

We kindly request your assistance in encouraging your PhD students to sign up for this event and present their research. We believe that their unique perspectives and insights will be valuable to our faculty community, and we are excited to learn more about their research. We have extended the deadline to Friday, March 3rd to sign up.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,
Chintana Van Caster

Subject: Last call! Sign up now to present your research at the Faculty Research Day on May 26th

Dear PhD student,

Are you passionate about your doctoral research? Do you want to share its impact with a wider faculty audience? Make sure to sign up to present your research during our Faculty Research Day on May 26th!

We challenge you to captivate the audience with a compelling and comprehensible story about your research of maximum 10 minutes. Your focus should be on making your presentation understandable to non-specialists while still having a scientifically sound background and a clear focus on methodology. Additionally, we encourage you to explain the societal relevance of your research. The presentations and discussions will be moderated by senior academic staff.

To give as many PhD students as possible the chance to sign up, we have extended the deadline to sign up to Friday, March 3rd.

Why sign up?
  1. Gain visibility and recognition for your research.
  2. Train your presentation skills and gain feedback from fellow researchers and academic staff in a constructive and collaborative setting.
  3. Enhance your PhD portfolio and CV for a chance to win the 'Best Presentation Award,' presented by the Dean and a professional jury panel.
  4. Your presentation is considered as a participation in an academic conference, so you can earn up to 2 credits for the Research Output quadrant.

Sign up by filling in the registration form and indicating ‘yes’ after the question “Do you want to present your research during one of the break-out sessions?”.
After March 3rd, we will contact all candidates with further instructions.

 Sign up here

As a faculty community, we are genuinely interested in your research and eager to gain insights into the topics that you are exploring.
We are excited to witness the presentations that you will deliver!

Best regards,
Chintana Van Caster

Faculty Research Day 2023: (Re)Connecting FacES – Register now!

Dear colleague,

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Faculty Research Day is taking place on Friday, May 26th 2023. The Research Day will be held at Hof Ter Musschen (Av. Emmanuel Mounier 2, 1200 Brussels), an authentic and beautiful off-campus location easily accessible by public transportation. The central theme of the day is the ‘Societal impact of research’.

With this Research Day, we aim to reconnect and get insights into each other's research, as well as provide ourjunior researchers with the opportunity to showcase their work to the faculty community

In the afternoon, we will be honoured to have Prof. Dr. Sylvia Wenmackers, philosopher of science at KU Leuven, delivering a keynote speech on the societal impact of research. Her recent interview with De Standaard (attached to this email) highlighted the idea that slow and steady science, though less sensational, can still be valuable.

This event will be an excellent opportunity to explore the approaches and perspectives of researchers from the various disciplines within our faculty and to promote exchange. We encourage you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to network, learn and collaborate with your colleagues.

You can find the preliminary programme in the attachment. Please note that the programme is still subject to change and a final programme will be announced in April.

Best regards,
