Dear All, Please find enclosed the latest version of the Consortium Agreement of STAR II. I kindly ask you to read the document, especially the parts highlighted with yellow and grey, and please fill in the missing information (or just send me the info by e-mail) and add comments and suggestions if you have any as soon as possible. Secondly, I contacted the (temporary) PO through the Participant Portal and she gave me the following answer (you can read it if you log in to the PP) : "Dear Mr Kulitsán, thank you very much for keeping me updated on your project's developments. As regards the workshops I confirm that you can group the two workshops in one (D3.4 + D4.2). Normally, all changes to deliverables need a formal amendment but in your case there would be a possibility to upload, in December 2019, a paper under DLV D4.2 saying that, in agreement with the project officer, the DLV is merged with D3.4. I would then approve this deliverable. Then, between December 2019 + April 2020, you would upload all the related documents of the merged DLV D3.4 + D4.2. Where would be the venue of this workshop? Regarding the External Advisory Board there is, in principle, no problem to finance the travel and/or accommodation costs of the members, however, they need to come from eligible countries. STAR II starting date

Dear All! We have discussed internally all possible scenarios concerning the starting date of the STAR II project. Taking into account all considerationsthe NAIH came to the conclusion that the project should be started on 1 of August. We fully understand your concerns of the holidays but we hope that the PO orin her absence a competent colleague of her will be available during the greater part of the summer also so the signiture of the grant agreement by the Commission can be received on time. In light of the above mentioned the preparation of the grant agreement can be started in July. Please share your standpoint as soon as possible because if you all accept 1 of August we immediately start the preparation of the GA in order to send you the document for signiture. The GA will be sent to the Trilateral first and than to the VUB in Brussels. Please check your postal addresses given and inform us about any changes. Furthermore we support István’s suggestion that the KoM should be held in M2 in Budapest. We would like to organize the meeting on the 6-7 of September. Dear All! The NAIH signed the Grant Agreement today so it's your turn! Furthermore please find enclosed the draft Consortium Agreement and feel free to share your comments/corrections! We suggest to sign the Consortium Agreement on the Kick-off Meeting in September in Budapest (same method as in STAR I). The current draft of the Consortium Agreement follows the quarterly distribution method as in STAR I but the NAIH would prefer the Work Package based distribution. Please consider the latter and let us know whether you support the idea. We can discuss the method on the KOM personally and make a final decision. Dear all, Apart from 2 management-oriented deliverables (D1.3 First coordination meeting in M8 (end of this month) and D1.1 Progress report in M13) the next step is the preparation of the draft training materials for DPAs and DPOs by M16 (February 2019). According to the GA the following categories have to be covered: * Development of Training Material for use by DPAs * Development of training scenarios * DPA personnel, * DPOs, * judges and other lawyers, * civil servants, * private sector. * Development of the Training Materials for the training of DPA personnel * Development of the Training Materials for the training of DPOs * Development of the Training Materials for the training of judges and lawyers * Development of the Training Materials for the training of civil servants and public sector employees * Development of the Training Materials for the training of the private sector * Development of training material for use by DPOs * Development of training scenarios * Development of the Training Materials to be used in the public sector * Development of the Training Materials to be used in the private sector Even though repetitions and overlaps among different categories and training materials are possible, the number of sector-specific materials to be developed is quite large. The development will begin in July with the elaboration on the general topics (cf D2.4) and between September and January the materials can be modified according to the needs of the specific sector. That being said, a CPDP panel has been submitted in which key stakeholders’ and the project partners’ representatives will discuss the project-related topics. The conference would be a good opportunity to disseminate the new materials and to engage the audience (DPAs, DPOs, etc) for the validation activities, starting in March 2019 (webinars, questionnaires, workshops). CPDP is preferred over ICDPPC due to dates. January 2019 feels a more achievable deadline for preparing the materials than October 2018. @NAIH @TRI – do you know any other occasions where the initial materials could be tested/discussed? Dear All, Finally, the PO of STAR I-II showed signs of life. Today she called me and sent the following message in the Participant Portal (you can read it if you log in): "Start date of the implementation period Dear Mr Kulitsán, As explained on the phone earlier today, all data introduced in the Participant Portal for the preparation of the grant agreement are fine and we are ready to launch the procedure for the signature of the grant agreement. The project implementation start date indicated in the Participant Portal is 1 June 2018 but I understand that you have not started any project activities yet. Therefore before launching the signature process I would appreciate if you could confirm the start date to be indicated in the grant agreement (which will also correspond to the first day of eligibility of costs). You may choose a date that is most convenient for the implementation of the project regardless of the theoretical dates indicated in the Participant Portal. (Please keep in mind holiday seasons that could interfere with key activities of the project.) Best regards, Anne De Wolf" According to the timeline in the PP the deadline for signing the grant agreement is 27 October 2018, but I think we should not wait until then. In France, we are in an advanced phase to produce and deliver training paths for education staff in relation to GDPR in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, indluding tailor-made DPOs in that educational fIeld. Hi all, We have an option with D4.2, and I would like your perspective before I commit us to anything - One of the materials we said we might deliver was a "training handbook" I had assumed this would be a short GDPR handbook/quick reference for use in the training, that trainees could take away with them. It occurs to us that instead, we could produce a "training handbook" for trainers - in which we would put * guidance on delivering GDPR training * common challenges * approaches * ways to best use the STAR materials We could also update this with our observations from the pilot exercises and other experience gained in the project - this way we can make that knowledge useful to practitioners. What do you think? If you can tell me "Yes, lets do that" or "no, stick with the intro handbook" in the next couple of hours, I'll add it into D4.2 and we can then circulate that for review today. Files for the evaluation of training materials

Dear all, As discussed earlier today, attached you may find the files that you may use to evaluate the collected training materials. The Word file is a summary of the “questions” or key elements to be searched in the materials, while the Excel file is the usual tool to insert the data. As you will see in the Excel file (inside you may find a few examples), it is a quite simple and swift procedure, because most questions can be answered with a yes/no. To maintain uniformity, we encourage to fill in column A by making a copy-and-paste of the name of the file as it will be eventually saved in the repository. As you may notice, we added a code before the original file name: two letters indicating the Member State and “DPA” or "DPO" based on the source. This will allow us to reorganise the cells independently from the input date. One or two files per country should suffice for this purpose. Should your DPAs or DPOs have not sent you any materials, we suggest you download what is available on their website to speed up the process: most DPAs publish training or informative materials online. Due to the fact that this analysis is part of deliverable D2.2, we strongly hope you can send back your findings before the next Skype call of next week.
