Dear Júlia, dear Hungarian colleagues,

How are you doing? Hope everything is fine in Budapest!

The Dutch DPA would like to respond to your email with questions regarding the STAR Project. We would like to let you know that our Authority does not provide GDPR training, however we do provide public information with an extensive GDPR file via our website: https://autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/nl/onderwerpen/avg-nieuwe-europese-privacywetgeving (only available in Dutch I am afraid!). In this GDPR file we pay particular attention to children/teenagers, SMEs & healthcare institutions.

Furthermore we are developing a “regelhulp”. This is a kind of e-learning tool that organisations can use to check whether they are on track with preparing for the GDPR. This tool will also generate concrete action points for an organisation in case they are not ready for 25 May 2018. We expect to publish this tool in the end of January on our website.

In The Netherlands DPOs are united via the NGFG (Nederlandse beroepsvereniging van Functionarissen voor gegevensbescherming), an institution that also cooperates with the Confederation of European Data Protection Organisations (CEDPO). You can contact the NGFG via the following mail address: secretariaat@ngfg.nl

Finally, regarding the link to the dedicated STAR Project website, I would like to ask whether you would be able to provide us with some more information with respect to the content of this website? We are then able to assess and check with our Communication Department whether they can integrate this link on our own website. I think this should not be a problem though!

Hope to have informed you sufficiently and all the best from a snowy The Hague,

Rosalien

Onderwerp: STAR Project - info & questions

Dear Colleagues,

As some of you may know, the European Union has recently awarded a contract to a consortium, which aims to support DPAs and DPOs in the provision of training, as required by GDPR Articles 57(1) and 39(1)(b). NAIH, the Hungarian DPA, is a partner in the consortium, which is led by Prof. Paul de Hert from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and includes Trilateral Research.

The two-year project, called STAR (Support Training Activities on the data protection Reform), aims to develop harmonised training materials across the EU in close consultation with DPAs and DPOs. The STAR project also aims to avoid each DPA developing such materials in isolation, which increases the overall cost, risks undermining the harmonising effect of the GDPR and puts greater pressure on its consistency mechanisms. By the same token, we will provide DPAs and DPOs with ready-made, easy-to-customise and easy-to-run training materials, easily adaptable to specific training situations.

The training materials will be especially aimed at judges, magistrates, civil servants and other key stakeholders affected by the GDPR. Accordingly, we would like to seek your support for this new endeavour by answering the following questions:

1.      Could you please identify who is responsible for training in your Authority and provide their contact details, so that we could interview them with regard to their priorities for GDPR training materials and seminars?

2.      Could you provide contact details for any DPO associations in your country so that we could also interview them with regard to the perceived training needs of DPOs?

3.      Could you provide a list of the topics of any training materials that you currently provide and at whom those training materials are directed?

4.      Would you be willing to provide a link on your website to the dedicated STAR project website which we aim to have operational in early 2018?

We would be grateful if you could respond by 15 December 2017. Your co-operation would be highly appreciated.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you and kind regards.
